Island Dock is a unique man made 17 acre peninsula in the Rondout Creek. It was built by the Delaware & Hudson Canal Company to store huge piles of coal before they were loaded on to larger boats for shipment on the Hudson River. Designed by James McEntee, the canal company's local engineer, it was the first pile dock ever built in America.

The landside section (apron) is 2 acres and connects to the 15 acre island via a causeway. There is excellent barge access between the site and the Hudson River.

The property has a remarkable 6500 ft of shoreline, 19ft water depth within 20ft of shoreline, level terrain and ample space for barge berths along the north side.
